Analyzing wheat cultivars grown in Czech Republic for eight stem rust resistance genes

نویسندگان

چکیده

Stem rust is a disease of wheat caused by basidiomycete Puccinia graminis f. sp. tritici (Pgt). Emergence new populations the pathogen and their spread over world calls for growing cultivars with lasting resistance. Knowledge resistance gene composition in local fields together knowledge global movements races crucial. Present study focused on using molecular markers to detect eight genes 58 encompassing more than 85% wheat-growing area Czech Republic. Presence within was compared severity 2014–2020 field trials. Local samples Pgt were collected tested virulence profiles differential lines two accessions then lines. Gene Sr38 present most frequently (63.79%) while this showed lower infection non-race specific trials, pathotypes from 2020 season mostly virulent it. Sr31 Sr24 are 10.34% 13.79% frequencies. The fact that none suggests Ug99 lineage currently not This grown Republic rely heavily single being overcome. Two other genes, still effective, occur sporadically.

Leaf rust (Puccinia triticina) resistance in wheat (Triticum aestivum) cultivars grown in Northern Europe 1992-2002.

Diversity of resistance to leaf rust caused by Puccinia triticina can be enhanced in wheat (Triticum aestivum) cultivars through a better knowledge of resistance genes that are present in important cultivars and germplasm. Multi-pathotype tests on 84 wheat cultivars grown in Denmark, Finland, Norway and Sweden during 1992-2002 and 39 differential testers enabled the postulation of nine known ge...

Seedling Resistance to Stem Rust and Molecular Marker Analysis of Resistance Genes in Wheat Cultivars of Yunnan, China

Stem rust is one of the most potentially harmful wheat diseases, but has been effectively controlled in China since 1970s. However, the interest in breeding wheat with durable resistance to stem rust has been renewed with the emergence of Ug99 (TTKSK) virulent to the widely used resistance gene Sr31, and by which the wheat stem rust was controlled for 40 years in wheat production area worldwide...

Identification of Leaf Rust Resistance Genes in Selected Egyptian Wheat Cultivars by Molecular Markers

Leaf rust, caused by Puccinia triticina Eriks., is a common and widespread disease of wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) in Egypt. Host resistance is the most economical, effective, and ecologically sustainable method of controlling the disease. Molecular markers help to determine leaf rust resistance genes (Lr genes). The objective of this study was to identify Lr genes in fifteen wheat cultivars fr...

Molecular markers for leaf rust resistance genes in wheat.

Over 100 genes of resistance to rust fungi: Puccinia recondita f. sp. tritici, (47 Lr - leaf rust genes), P. striiformis (18 Yr - yellow rust genes) and P. graminis f. sp. tritici (41 Sr - stripe rust genes) have been identified in wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) and its wild relatives according to recent papers. Sixteen Lr resistance genes have been mapped using restriction fragments length polym...
